Axis Communications has introduced the AXIS D2124-VE Radar. The new radar offers 360-degree coverage and can detect and classify people within an area of up to 40,000 m\u00b2, making it suitable for securing large, open outdoor sites.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When combined with a PTZ camera, the radar also enables automatic visual verification of alarms, helping to reduce unwanted alarms.<\/p>\n

The AXIS D2124-VE Radar detects vehicles at distances of up to 200 metres and, depending on conditions, can detect and classify people at up to 140 metres. The radar works independently of lighting conditions and continues to function in a wide range of weather conditions. Detection and recognition zones allow security areas to be set up efficiently. Integrated stabilisation also helps maintain detection accuracy when the radar is exposed to vibrations, for example from strong winds.<\/p>\n

Automatic alarm verification<\/h3>\n

In combination with the AXIS Q6225-LE PTZ camera, the radar can have detected objects tracked automatically. With the additional software AXIS Radar Autotracking for PTZ, radar detections can also be checked using AI-based analysis of camera footage.<\/p>\n

Optional dual verification makes it possible to trigger an alarm only when both the radar and the video analytics confirm the detection. This helps reduce the number of false alarms and limits the alerts that security staff have to assess. As a result, unnecessary interventions and the associated operational costs can be reduced.<\/p>\n

According to Erik Baeten, A&E Manager at Axis Communications, securing large outdoor sites is not just about what you can detect, but above all about how you then use that information. Security staff, Baeten says, need to be able to quickly assess which events genuinely require follow-up. By combining radar detection with automatic verification via camera footage, the company aims to help them respond in a more targeted way and limit unnecessary interventions.<\/p>\n

Energy-efficient security, even without a mains connection<\/h3>\n

The AXIS D2124-VE Radar consumes an average of 14.8 watts for its coverage area. This makes the device suitable for energy-efficient security solutions, including mobile security units and installations at locations without a fixed mains connection.<\/p>\n

The radar can be installed on sturdy poles, mobile security units and rooftops. Thanks to IP connectivity, the device can also work with other security systems and automatically trigger actions, such as switching on infrared illumination when needed. Four integrated LED strips can also be used to issue warnings or deter potential intruders.<\/p>\n
