Zyxel Networks and Bitdefender are linking their security products. Firewalls in the USG FLEX H series will now work directly with Bitdefender GravityZone. According to the companies, this means administrators can see network and endpoint security in one place, without a custom API or additional integration tools.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The integration connects Zyxel Networks’ USG FLEX H series firewalls with GravityZone, Bitdefender’s endpoint security platform. The companies are presenting the link as a native integration. According to them, no custom API or additional integration tool is needed for the two systems to communicate with each other. With the announcement, Zyxel and Bitdefender are targeting both businesses and MSPs.<\/p>\n

Network and endpoint in a single view<\/h3>\n

The integration brings together two layers of the security environment. Zyxel provides network security through its firewalls, while Bitdefender protects endpoints through GravityZone. In many environments, these two layers run side by side, each with its own management interface.<\/p>\n

According to Zyxel, the integration gives administrators visibility of their security environment in one place. The company says this reduces security silos and enables administrators to make better-informed decisions based on the combined overview. What those decisions look like in practice, for example when responding to an incident that is visible both on the network and on an endpoint, depends on the data the systems exchange.<\/p>\n

Focus on small teams<\/h3>\n

Zyxel is explicitly positioning the integration for small IT and security teams. The company says the link makes risks such as expired licences, outdated devices and security gaps more visible. These are issues that can easily slip out of sight in smaller environments with limited management capacity, particularly when network and endpoint information sits in separate consoles.<\/p>\n

The USG FLEX H series is the firewall range Zyxel aims at SMEs. Bitdefender supplies GravityZone both to end customers and to MSPs. The combination therefore fits a target group in which both vendors are already active.<\/p>\n

What to check beforehand<\/h3>\n

For IT service providers already deploying both products at customers, the obvious question is whether the integration simplifies day-to-day management. To answer that, it makes sense to check in advance which firmware version of the firewalls and which GravityZone licence are required, exactly which data is shared between the two systems, and in which console you access the combined overview.<\/p>\n

How the integration relates to existing tooling is also relevant. If you already work with a SIEM, an RMM platform or your own dashboard that brings together firewall and endpoint data, the degree of overlap will determine whether the integration is a replacement or an addition.
